Windows Starter Edition To Emerge

Microsoft is making a great move in producing a version of Vista (not actually labeled Vista) that will be Windows Starter 2007. This edition will sell only in emerging markets. In my mind (it’s scary in there) Microsoft is trying to both help developing countries, and also get a piece of the coming boom in government sponsored computer campaigns. With all this talk of $100 computers, Linux-based wi-fi machines for school age children, Microsoft wants to be benevolent and steal “market share” away from Linux as well. Why not, right? Maybe using Windows will one day suck new countries into the vortex, and hey you’re helping out too, sounds like a Win-Win to me.
